Miss Potter filming at Yew Tree Farm

Miss Potter filming at Yew Tree Farm

MISS POTTER is an enchanting love story inspired by the life of Beatrix Potter - the most successful children’s author of all time.

Set in London and the Lake District in 1902, the film stars Academy Award winner Renée Zellweger as Beatrix Potter, and charts the developments of her early career and views on the world as she opens her eyes to the true nature of her relationship with her publisher, Norman Warne (Ewan McGregor). Despite delighting generations of children with her tales, there is one that she has kept secret.... until now.

Peter visits Yew Tree Farm in Coniston, a traditional hill farm, and talks to owners Caroline and Jon Watson about the decline of hill farming, as well as picking up the beef he needs for his first recipe: braised beef prepared in a slow cooker.

Next, he heads over to Watendlath for an afternoon of fishing with best friend James. And, on the shores of the lake, he cooks hot smoked trout

The Lake District is just as enchanting as it looks in the new Miss Potter movie, but its hotels are often disappointing. Fiona Duncan finds a selection that won't break the bank - or the magical spell of the area.

For once, The Man was in a good temper at the end of a journey. On the motorway, driving north, he was, as usual, full of moans - complaining about the way other motorists were driving (which was silly because they could not hear him) and complaining about me for lying on the back seat instead of navigating (which is sillier still because I am a dog).
