As we do not have a liquor license please feel free to bring your own wine etc.
Banquets, buffets and barbeques
Open to guests only, for group bookings of 4 guests we can offer one of our very special eating experiences. All need to be booked in advance.
Banquet – £30 a head -This is a three course meal with a glass of wine served by candlelight in our fascinating dining room. The set menu can be agreed in advance but will be the best of seasonal local produce cooked from scratch to perfection. The main course will consist of our Herdwick lamb or belted Galloway beef grown and butchered on our own farm (vegetarian and many other alternatives available).

Beetroot and cumin soup
Herdwick shoulder slow roasted in a minted Cumberland marinade
Selection of winter vegetables including spiced red cabbage
Roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings
Damson and apple crumble with 'real' custard
Buffet – £15 a head - For the more informal social occasion, we can lay a table of finger food for your evening meal to be self served in our special dining room. This buffet (menu arranged in advance) can make a party special or be a lighter alternative after a heavy lunch or meal the evening before. All food will be hand prepared and sourced locally.

Herdwick pinwheels (swirls of puff pastry filled minced meat, melted cheese and mint)
Lamb fajita wraps
Dressed Salad
Cold roast belted Galloway Beef
Crusty Bread
Pickles/chutneys
Barbeque - £15 a head - For summer evenings we can prepare a cook yourself extravaganza to be enjoyed in the garden cooked on our super quick gas BBQ, our chiminea can be lit for late night warmth. All produce locally sourced and hand prepared.

Herdwick kebabs with pita bread and Hawkshead relish Cajun sauce
Belted Galloway beef burgers in baps
Herdwick grills with feta and olive melting centres
Dressed salad
Pickles/chutneys
